How Coffr researches, sources, reviews and corrects its payment fraud research, including how AI assistance is used.

What we cover

Payment fraud, payment controls, vendor security, payment rails and the regulations that govern them, written for finance and treasury practitioners.

How we source claims

Statistics come from named primary sources such as government agencies, regulators, industry associations and peer reviewed research. Each article lists its sources.

We do not publish invented or estimated figures. When no credible data exists, we describe the question as open rather than fill the gap.

How AI is used

Drafts and summaries are prepared with AI assistance. A member of the Coffr team reviews research before it is published, and internal links are checked against our published archive.

Language we avoid

We do not describe employees who were deceived as the weakest link. Our research treats fraud as something controls should anticipate, because capable people can be manipulated.

Corrections and updates

When we find an error or a source publishes new figures, we update the article and show its updated date. To report an error, contact us through the address on our About page.
